	Henry Geer van Velde is the abstract painter who first began to enlarge space without depth.  It is this sense of 'values' (tone and color) and ability to control movement in space which show van Velde a true painter...the sensation of space without the illusion, a personal sense of space as shown in his "COMPOSITION"/1955 (above).
