"My work addresses cultural traditions, objects and materials associated with remembrance, including memento mori hair jewelry and the contemporary practice of heaping flowers in makeshift shrines. My work responds to the beauty of ritual, its cyclical qualities and its objects. The circular shape within the square background characterizes the infinite within the finite. The geometric schemes of rose windows and the numeric configurations of prayer beads inform the mathematical arrangements of the work." Donna Sharrett/Fifth Season Magazine 2006
"Materials include rose petals, synthetic hair, handmade rose beads , bone beads and rings sewn to a wax-covered box, drilled to accommodate stitching. Guitar-string ball ends are used as a dedication to my brother Scott Sharrett as are the songs titles chosen to name the works."
